26 Feb 13: The Parable of the Wedding Banquet / Paul Rebukes Divisive Church Members

Read Matthew 22:1-14 and 1 Corinthians 3:1-9

I. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet
- Matthew 22:1-14, In this parable Jesus used a wedding banquet where the King invited guests three times and was rejected.  They even treated his servants badly and killed them.  After hearing about this, the King sent his armies to destroy their cities and kill them.  He then opened the invitation to anyone on the highway.  God had been knocking on our doors with his invitation to be part of His family.  He had sent us messengers to share the gospel and plant a seed in our hearts.  We need to accept this seed, feed it with fertilizer and water it so our faith will grow.  We need to soften our hearts and let the Spirit work in us so we may be changed within.  It is only a matter time till the day of judgment comes and whoever rejected His message and His Son will be thrown to the fiery hell.  God wants us to join Him at his banquet.  Because He loves us so much, He will continue to send those invitations again and again hoping that one day, you will read them and attend the wedding.  Have you accepted His invitation?  If no, what are you waiting for?

II. Paul Rebukes Divisive Church Members
1 Corinthians 3:1-9, God had called every believer to help in His mission of spreading His Word.  We are all blessed with our own gifts and abilities that we can use to fulfill this.  Paul reminded us that each and everyone of us are important and we should not look at how we, as individuals, are doing God's plans but how each and everyone contributes to the success of the mission.  We should not ask for a reward or glorify ourselves for it is only God that deserves glory.  Everything that we have is from God and all we are doing is sharing these blessing to others so we can be a witness and testimony of His love.

IV. Old Testament Readings
