12 Feb 13: The Transfiguration of Jesus/Be Sensitive to Others

Read Matthew 17:1-13 and Romans 14:10-16

I. The Transfiguration of Jesus
- Matthew 17:1-13; This story is once again a confirmation of who Jesus really was.  From yesterday's devotional, Jesus asked His disciples who He was to people and to them.  They gave Him answers ranging from John the Baptist, Elijah, then Peter said that He was the Son of God.  These were human responses given by the community and His own disciples.  With Jesus' transfiguration along with two of the greatest prophets, and God's assurance that Jesus is "His Son whom He loves", they were given a divine response.  Once and for all, they have received a confirmation that Jesus is the messiah that God had sent to save the world from our sins.

- In my opinion, most are still waiting for some kind of confirmation or sign that Jesus was the messiah. We have many believers and non-believers alike, who wants to receive a Divine Intervention that will tell them that Jesus is the Lord and God is a living God.  Faith is believing without seeing. We need to believe in the Word and God's promises.  He is real and once we devote our lives to Him and follow His ways, we will experience something that only God can provide us.  He is the only One who can give us eternal life.  Let's surrender our lives, have faith, believer, and build a relationship with our Father, who is the creator of heavens and earth.

II. Be Sensitive to Others
-  Romans 14:10-16; Paul wanted us to not judge our fellow brothers and sisters in faith.  Some might have a strong faith than others but we should not use this to look down on our fellow Christians that are weaker in faith.  Instead of judging them, let us use the discernment that God has blessed us with the help of the Holy Spirit to help them mature and be strong in faith.  Instead of bashing them, let's share the Word, give our testimonies, and share with them the blessings and grace that God has showered us.  They already have the seed planted in their heart so let us be the gardener and provide water and fertilizer so it would grow and bear good fruit for our Father.

III. Proverbs for Today/ 9:1-6

The Way of Wisdom
Wisdom has built her house,
She has hewn out her seven pillars;
She has slaughtered her meat,
She has mixed her wine,
She has also furnished her table.
She has sent out her maidens,
She cries out from the highest places of the city,
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
“Come, eat of my bread
And drink of the wine I have mixed.
Forsake foolishness and live,
And go in the way of understanding.
